Professor and Education Policy, Organization & Leadership Department Head Yoon Pak was featured in an episode of Illinois Public Media's "What We Brought," a limited series from Illinois Public Media about the Asian American experience in Central Illinois.
Pak sat down with host Nidhi Shastri to discuss Asian American history and her role in getting it into Illinois classrooms through initiatives like the TEAACH Act (Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History). Pak also discusses her family's story of immigrating to the United States from South Korea in the aftermath of the Korean War.
What We Brought is told through stories of resilience, adaptation, and identity, as well as what we carry with us —whether it's memories, food, language, or even the echoes of trauma.
