Two Education Policy, Organization and Leadership Ph.D. students have been selected for the Humanities Without Walls Summer Bridge program.
Chris Getowicz and Paapa Nkrumah-Ababio were each selected for the summer fellowship. Each Ph.D. student will work with a community organization throughout the summer.
Getowicz will work with Urbana-Champaign Books to Prisoners, which helps incarcerated people get books that aren't available in their libraries. The organization also staffs the lending library at the Champaign County Jail.
Nkrumah-Ababio will participate in DREAAM, an organization that offers programs and events geared toward empowering, enabling, and uplifting boys in Champaign County.
Students selected to participate in the program will spend 8 weeks in the summer contributing to a community organization in the Champaign-Urbana area. With support from Humanities Without Walls and We CU, participants will connect with an organization, identify an area of need, and design a project to address that need.
