  • Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL) Summer Program 2024

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL) Visiting Scientist Program is offering 10-week summer internships for undergraduate and graduate students in 2024.

    In order to be considered, undergraduate applicants must meet each of the following criteria:

  • Udall Scholarship Information Sessions and Workshop

    The Udall Scholarship awards $7,000 to sophomores or juniors who are taking action to address environmental concerns and plan on a career related to the environment.  1) Sophomores and juniors who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or U.S. permanent residents and who are committed to a career focused on the environment AND 2) Native American sophomores and juniors who are interested in tribal policy and health care are eligible to apply.  A successful applicant will have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate leadership and a commitment to service.

    The Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office (IEDO) is part of the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.  IEDO is seeking talented and passionate Fellows interested in supporting technical, programmatic, strategic, and policy efforts aimed at decarbonizing the industrial sector.  Fellows will collaborate closely with IEDO staff—including several former Fellows—and will develop a broad understanding of the potential of new technologies and current barriers to technology deployment across all of IEDO’s subprograms.  This Fellowship will last one year, with the opportunity to renew for additional years at the discretion of the sponsoring office.

  • 2024 St. Elmo Brady Symposium

    The UIUC Student Chapter of NOBCChE is excited to present the Spring 2024 St. Elmo Brady Symposium.  The St. Elmo Brady Lecture Series is held each semester to honor Illinois Chemistry Alumni St. Elmo Brady, the first Black American to obtain a PhD in Chemistry in the United States (1916).  This year’s event will feature guest speaker Dr. David Kwabi from the University of Michigan on February 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 104 at the Illini Union. The lecture will be preceded by breakfast at 9:30 a.m. and followed by lunch, informational panels, and a poster session in the afternoon.

    The poster session will feature undergraduate and graduate student presenters, and it is open to all students performing STEM-related research.

    The registration deadline for poster presenters and judges is January 26, 2024 while general registration closes on February 2, 2024.

  • 2nd Annual NCSA Student Research Conference

    The 2nd Annual NCSA Student Research Conference will take place on April 23, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), located at 1205 W. Clark Street in Urbana.  The NCSA invites UIUC students whose research is closely aligned with NCSA research areas of interest, such as Artificial Intelligence, Arts & Humanities, Astrophysics, Digital Agriculture, Data and Computational Sciences, Earth & Environment, and Health Sciences, to give a lightning talk, present a poster, and/or organize a workshop session.

    Are you devoting a significant portion of your time to research?

    The campus-wide Illinois Office of Undergradaute Research(OUR) sponsors the Undergraduate Research Certificate program. Undergradaute students whose academic experience is centered on research are encouraged to apply to receive a Certificate in Undergraduate Research.

    Students must be currently enrolled at the University of Illinois to be eligible for the program. Those interested to participate in the certificate program should inquire prior to their senior year.
