Historically, American Indians face a unique set of challenges in gaining access to a college education and are one of the most underrepresented groups both in college and in the degree-holding population. In 2019, the Medtronic AIERG created a scholarship program for students who want to earn a college degree and reach their educational goals. Scholarship and the UIC Isadore and Sadie Dorin Scholarship are now accessible. Each scholarship has specific eligibility criteria. Students may access the descriptions, eligibility criteria and apply by visiting the UIC SnAP portal. The application deadline for each scholarship is September 16, 2020. The funding support is applicable for the 2020-2021 academic year. There are five (5) Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Undergraduate Scholarships available. Students are currently receiving over $300,000 in financial support from these scholarships. UIC Study Abroad Sep 2, 2020 11:30 pm Study Abroad Discovery Week: Sept. 14-18 In place of our annual study abroad fair, we’ll be hosting a full week’s worth of events for our Virtual Study Abroad Discovery Week. Each day of the week we’ll be focusing on a different topic related to study abroad such as how to choose the right program and funding study abroad. The week will culminate on September 18th with our virtual study abroad fair where we will have virtual meeting rooms for students and advisors to meet our study abroad program partners as well as our very own UIC faculty members leading programs. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to 300 of these student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential. Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance* that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the methodology used by a Scholar’s college or university.
