    The AWS Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Scholarship program, in collaboration with Udacity, aims to help underserved and underrepresented high school and college students learn foundational ML concepts to prepare them for careers in AI and ML.

  • EERE Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Technologies Office Summer Internships

    Deadline (Extended): February 10, 2023 | 5:00 PM EST

    The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO) offers three summer internships in Energy Storage, High Performance Computing, and Robotics. Each internship is a 10-week (May – September 2023), hands-on, practical experience designed to provide opportunities for students and recent graduates to intern at one of the 17 U.S. National Laboratories.

  • Purdue Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP)

    The Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) is a pathway to graduate education at Purdue University. This program is designed to provide equal access and opportunities to underrepresented and diverse students by preparing students for Graduate School by offering eight-weeks intensive research experiences, and graduate school resources that contributes to student's professional and academic growth.

  • NCSA is offering two summer programs

    • Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) The Future of Discovery: Training Students to Build and Apply Open Source Machine Learning Models and Tools (FODOMMaT) program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is seeking students to apply for a 10-week paid summer training experience in machine learning. Successful applicants will work full-time on one of cutting-edge FODOMMaT research projects that develop open-source machine learning models and tools and use them to solve real-world problems.
    • The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) has a history of nurturing innovative concepts, and some of the best ideas have come from highly motivated, creative undergraduate students. The SPIN program will be accepting applicants for the Summer 2023 session starting from January 23, 2023

  • The NSF-funded Materials REU at the University of California, Irvine

    The NSF-funded Materials REU at the University of California, Irvine, is an 8-week, fully funded, summer research program with a focus on the design, synthesis, and characterization of new materials with novel functionalities for energy, healthcare, aerospace, and environmental sustainability.

    The program is intended for rising junior and senior undergraduates who are interested in attending graduate school in a STEM field. Students from underrepresented groups in STEM are particularly encouraged to apply.

  • UCLA Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) & Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR)

    1. Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)

    The UCLA Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program at the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, supported by Amazon, will provide students who are typically underrepresented in engineering and computer science an opportunity to conduct innovative and cutting-edge research. The program will admit 20 students and will run from June 25 – August 19, 2023.

    2. Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR)

    The UCLA Summer Programs for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) is designed for students who wish to learn more about the graduate school experience and possibly pursue an academic career in teaching and research.   • First-Generation College Students Focus Opportunity at Capital One

    The First-Generation Focus (FGF) is a semester-based program designed to develop, support, and empower first-generation college students in their first and second year of college and help them gain greater confidence in the areas of Financial Well-Being, Career Readiness & Persistence, and Personal Wellness.  Other opportunities include mentorship, early internships, interview prep workshops, and continuous professional development and networking. 

    The students that join FGF are freshman and sophomore college students who: identify as first-generation, are currently enrolled at a college or university in the United States, and do not require sponsorship for employment authorization for future employment opportunities.

    Applications close January 18, 2022, and the new cohort is set to begin in February.  Once the cohort hits capacity, applications will be closed.

  • 2023 Corporate Scholarships

    Some NACME Board Companies and Non-Board Companies are interested in students majoring in engineering and computer science to apply for scholarship funds and internship opportunities.  These scholarships are open to NACME Scholars and Non-NACME Scholars.

    Selected students will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship and internship with the sponsoring company.

    The application for the Illinois Cyber Security Scholars Program (ICSSP) for Fall 2023 is now open to Grainger College of Engineering undergraduate or graduate students who want to specialize in Cyber Security/Privacy, or School of Information Sciences graduate students in the MSIM or PhD program.

  • 2023 [ATP-BIO-RECRUITING1] NSF Research Opportunity for Undergraduates

    The Advanced Technologies for the Preservation of Biological Systems (ATP-Bio), an NSF Engineering Research Center, is excited to announce its 2023 Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)!

    The ATP-Bio REU is a 10-week research internship targeting STEM students nationwide who have not participated in prior research.  Students will spend their summer doing exciting, cutting-edge research to help “stop biological time” and radically extend the ability to bank and transport cells, aquatic embryos, tissue, skin, whole organs, microphysiological systems (“organs-on-a-chip”), and even whole organisms through a team approach to build advanced biopreservation technologies.  ATP-Bio REU students will work at the University of Minnesota, Massachusetts General Hospital, the University of California-Berkeley, the University of California-Riverside, or Texas A&M University.

  • 2023 Summer Internship at UC San Diego, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Marine Physical Laboratory

    Applications are now being accepted for a ten-week summer internship opportunity in the Marine Physical Laboratory (MPL) at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, in La Jolla, California.

    The internship program is a great opportunity for motivated undergraduate students with exceptional aptitude for quantitative science majoring in oceanography, applied mathematics, engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, geology and related majors to work with some of the most notable scientists in the world and learn about marine science and technology while earning a modest salary.

  • 2022-2023 Kevin T. Early Memorial Scholarship

    Applications are now being accepted for the 2022-2023 Kevin T. Early Memorial Scholarship, a poetry prize open to first-year undergraduates in all majors.  It awards $2000 to a student with freshman standing at UIUC for the 2022-2023 school year.

    The deadline for application is January 31, 2023. 

    For consideration, students must submit 5 poems via email to John Dudek, the Associate Director of Creative Writing in the Department of English (Jdudek4@illinois.edu).  The complete submission should not exceed 5 pages (So 1 poem to a page).  Submissions should be attached to the email as .docx (Word) files.

    The subject line of the email should read: “EARLY PRIZE SUBMISSION: Last name.”

    The body of the email should include the student's name, address, phone number, e-mail, UIN, and the titles of the poems.  The name should not appear on the entry file itself.

  • 2023 [NAMEPA] Penn State Drawdown Scholars Program

    Penn State is seeking talented applicants for its Drawdown Scholars Program taking place this summer from May 31 – August 3, 2023 on the Penn State University Park Campus.  The application is open to undergraduate students in any Major who are interested in Drawdown’s mission to reverse global warming

    Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or U.S. territories if not a full-time student at Penn State.  They must be at least 18 years of age with plans to graduate in December 2023 or later.

    The program has a student stipend of $525/week, on-campus housing is provided, and there is travel reimbursement up to $300 for those in need.

  • 2023 [NAMEPA] REU of the Laboratory for the Research for the Structure of Matter (LRSM)

    The LRSM, a National Science Foundation supported Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC), will offer up to twenty Summer Research Fellowships to undergraduates from colleges and universities in the United States who are majoring in science or engineering.  Students spend 10 weeks working on individual research projects under the supervision of a faculty member on a current materials research project in chemistry, physics, biochemistry, biophysics, materials science or engineering.

    The program runs from May 30 – August 4, 2023 and will carry a stipend of $6000 (Those with school schedules that interfere should still apply and note their situation in the comments section of the application).

  • Academic Strategies HDFS 199 for Neurodivergent Students

    Sign up for 2 credit hours of Academic Strategies HDFS 199 for Spring 2023.  The course is designed to improve the academic performance of students who struggle with study habits and academic responsibilities due to autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, dyslexia or other neurodiverse conditions.

    Most of the coursework is completed using tasks from other classes, and students are given time during lab to complete it.

    The course meets Tuesday/Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
