December 31 marks the end of an era for insect pathologist Lee Solter. She will be retiring from the Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS), an organization she has dedicated more than 30 years of service to as a research scientist. Lee has also ably served as interim director of the INHS for the past two years. In this interview, Lee recounts her early beginnings in science, highlights of her career at INHS, her reflections on the field of science, and her plans for retirement.
