  • University of Arkansas - Separations and Commercialization ChemE REU

    Application Deadline: Tuesday, February 28, 2023

    Majors: chemical engineering, bioengineering, biology, chemistry, materials science, physics, or related majors are welcome to apply!

    The program runs from May 22, 2023- July 28, 2023. 

    The Separations & Commercialization REU program will offer research experiences in laboratories that are working towards the goals of improving separation efficiency and reducing separation processing costs to a diverse group of undergraduate students. Participants will interact with faculty and graduate students to plan and execute a 10-week research project. A unique component of this REU program is the commercialization assessment training (CAT) series that will prepare them to think about the potential commercialization of traditional hypothesis-driven research early in the process. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with industry leaders in the separation field through the CAT series, industrial mentorships, as well as industrial site visits locally and in Texas.

  • Undergraduate Research Assistant Needed: Civil and Environmental Engineering

    Project Description: 

    The research project aims to determine which farm field management techniques are best at mitigating agricultural nitrogen losses associated with fertilization. To accomplish this, we collect and analyze air, water, and soil samples from fields utilizing different field management (fertilization rates, tillage, and cover cropping).

    Requirements

    The student should be interested and capable of spending time in the field. Field duties will include carrying equipment; installing sampling systems; collecting air, water, and soil samples; and maintaining detailed field notes. The student will need to have at least one morning each week available to dedicate to field work.

    The Advanced Technologies for the Preservation of Biological Systems (ATP-Bio), an NSF Engineering Research Center, is excited to announce its 2023 Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)!

    The ATP-Bio REU is a 10-week research internship targeting STEM students nationwide who have not participated in prior research.  Students will spend their summer doing exciting, cutting-edge research to help “stop biological time” and radically extend the ability to bank and transport cells, aquatic embryos, tissue, skin, whole organs, microphysiological systems (“organs-on-a-chip”), and even whole organisms through a team approach to build advanced biopreservation technologies.  ATP-Bio REU students will work at the University of Minnesota, Massachusetts General Hospital, the University of California-Berkeley, the University of California-Riverside, or Texas A&M University.

    The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) sponsored Biomedical Engineering Summer Internship (BESIP) is for undergraduate biomedical engineering students who have completed their junior year of college. The 10-week program, under the guidance of Dr. Robert Lutz, BESIP Program Director, is scheduled from June 5, 2017 to August 11, 2017. The internship will allow rising senior bioengineering students to participate in cutting-edge biomedical research projects under the mentorship of world-class scientists in NIH laboratories in Bethesda, MD.

    Administrators at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University invite undergraduate students interested in biomedical and health sciences to participate in leading-edge cancer research and career exploration.  Participants work full-time (35-40 hours/week) under the mentorship of top cancer researchers in state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities to help advance novel research projects in cell and molecular biology, cancer immunology, metabolism, clinical investigation, developmental therapeutics, genomics, population science, health disparities, bioinformatics and other focus areas.  Immersive research training is complemented by faculty lectures, skills workshops, and career development activities.

    Since 1980, the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) Career Program has provided underrepresented students of color with summer internships leading to full-time jobs, with an offer rate of over 75% across all of their programs.   • 2023 Summer Internship at UC San Diego, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Marine Physical Laboratory

    Applications are now being accepted for a ten-week summer internship opportunity in the Marine Physical Laboratory (MPL) at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, in La Jolla, California.

    The internship program is a great opportunity for motivated undergraduate students with exceptional aptitude for quantitative science majoring in oceanography, applied mathematics, engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, geology and related majors to work with some of the most notable scientists in the world and learn about marine science and technology while earning a modest salary.

  • The Center for Energy Efficient Electronics Science (E3S) Internship Programs at UC Berkeley, MIT, and Stanford: June 9 - August 10, 2013; Application Deadline is February 1, 2013

    This 9 week internship is aimed at rising sophomores, juniors, and non-graduating seniors who are engineering and physical science majors with a 3.25 GPA or better and an interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in science and engineering.
