The Wellness Education Coordinator VISTA serves primarily to develop healthy living components to the Student Stewards Program, which uses public parks as learning laboratories where students engage in hands-on citizen science.  

V3 Companies representatives with their Ecological Restoration group will discuss full-time and summer job opportunities. The target audience is individuals who are interested in Forestry, Natural Resources, or Ecological Restoration. V3 Companies is located in Woodridge, IL, but also have an office in Villa Park, IL.

The following upcoming Pre-Law programs are open to all students. We are hosting a special networking event on November 9 that should be of interest to many students.

Out in the field or on the back of an envelope, our graduate students find new and surprising ways to attack scientific problems. We spend our time making (and breaking) waves on supercomputers, sniffing out the composition of stardust and the ancient Earth, and searching for ground truth in the forests of Madagascar, the ice shelves of Antarctica, and the mountains of Tibet.

Six webinars on different topics will take place in December and January. Applications open in early December.

The campus recruiter for Peace Corps, Sydney Lazarus, will provide an information session about opportunities in the Environmental Sector of the Peace Corps on Tuesday, November 12 from 4-5 p.m. in W-121 Turner Hall.  E-mail peacecorps@illinois.edu with any questions.

The Openlands Arborist Registered Apprenticeship 2024 cohort application will be available on Monday, January 8. They will be hosting a virtual, informational session on Monday December 18 at 6pm to provide interested applicants more information about the program, discuss the hiring timeline, and answer questions.

In coordination with Southern Illinois University and Morgan State University, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries plans to host a career panel on January 20, 2023 from 11:30am to 1:00pm EST (10:30am to 12:30pm CST). The panel will include an informational session on NOAA internships and careers. Deadlines for NOAA undergrad internships will close in January and February of 2023.

The Illinois Leadership Center will be hosting its annual Imprint I-Program on February 25, 2023. Registration closes January 31, 2023.

The 2020 conference of the National Association of Environmental Professionals is occurring virtually this week. They are offering Career Development sessions, and you can register for that portion of the conference free of charge (dont' let the prices scare you off on the first registration page, just keep going). Green Corps, the Field School for Environmental Organizing, provides a paid training program in environmental organizing. They are accepting 20 candidates for the 2023-2024 program that begins in August. Zoom information sessions January 26 and February 6.

Our goal for this conference is to show students the diverse STEM research and opportunities at Argonne and across the DOE laboratory complex, and the support we offer in navigating the summer internship application process.
