The Content Specialist & Evaluation Associate works as part of the Science Education Research Center (SERC) team at Carleton College to develop new and improve existing websites, support professional development programming, maintain SERC collections, and assist in education research and evaluation projects. The Science Education Resource Center is a grant-funded office at Carleton College, founded to improve education in the Earth sciences and beyond. Today we are a team of 13 educators, researchers and technical specialists who have worked with over 100 award winning education projects across the STEM disciplines and allied fields.

The Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA) is seeking a Grant & Contract Assistant for its administrative office in Boise. The position will monitor conservation and wildlife federal-aid and state programs; identify long-range objectives and short-term goals based on in-depth knowledge of program regulations and requirements; interpret governing rules and regulations, operating policies, and procedure and compliance.

This position is within the Wildlife Division of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department and the employee also serves as a team member of the Game Management Section.  This section is responsible for conducting a wide variety of surveys, research and management activities for big game, upland game, furbearers, migratory game birds, and wildlife diseases in North Dakota.  The successful candidate will be the primary source for sound statistical survey design related to conducting and evaluating the aforementioned and other Department programs.  This includes working independently and providing direction to Administration and other Department staff on appropriate survey methods and courses of action.

Required Job Qualifications: 

A degree in forestry, another natural resources program, or a related degree will be considered. Four years of combined field forestry and Forest Management program administration experience. The purpose of this position is to collect field information on status and trends of vegetation on BLM lands across southeastern Oregon, to manage a 5 year rangelands inventory effort, and to provide assistance to the INR-Portland Director on managing the overall ecology program at INR. The Research Assistant (Ecologist) will work with the INR-Portland Director to assure the BLM inventory program is successful, and that vegetation plot and training data are integrated initially across southeastern Oregon, and eventually across the state.

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) I Can! Programs introduce Minnesota families to a variety of outdoor activities including camping, fishing, paddling, and rock climbing. Youth Outdoors I Can Paddle! Crew Members serve as paddling instructors and guides for weekend canoe and kayak workshops. Instructors teach basic paddling technique and provide on-the-water guidance for first-time paddlers. Workshops take place on both lakes and rivers managed by the DNR. Instructors provide environmental education throughout the workshops as well, offering participants information about Minnesota’s natural resources.

The scientist is a Research Biologist in the Southern Research Station’s Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center (SRS-4854). The mission of the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center (EFETAC) is to generate knowledge and tools needed to anticipate and respond to environmental threats. The most serious threats to forests and the benefits they provide inevitably involve complex factors interacting across multiple spatial and temporal scales. Superior National Forest seasonal crews are part of the Superior National Forest’s “Faces of Tomorrow” initiative, an effort to improve the diversity of their future workforce. Leader and member positions involve physically challenging, team-oriented outdoor work on conservation projects such as invasive species management, fuels reduction, campsite maintenance, timber stand improvement, trail maintenance, tree planting, timber marking, and wildfire suppression/prescribed burning. The Ionia Conservation District, located in Ionia, Michigan is seeking a full-time Michigan Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) Technician.  The MAEAP Technician is responsible for delivering on-farm technical assistance in Ionia and Barry County, Michigan.  This includes conducting farm-specific risk assessments; coordinating local, state, and federal agency resources to help farmers reduce environmental risks; and assisting farmers in making progress toward MAEAP verification.  The MAEAP Technician is also responsible for collaborating with Conservation District staff to promote MAEAP and educate diverse audiences on the importance of sustainable agriculture in the Ionia and Barry County region.
