  NASA’s Illinois Space Grant Consortium (ISGC) announces that its 15th Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) will take place this summer. UROP is a program designed to cultivate and support research partnerships between University of Illinois College of Engineering undergraduates and faculty members. All projects focus on NASA-related science and engineering research. We would like to invite highly-motivated sophomores, juniors and seniors as well May 2017 graduates to apply to participate in UROP.

  The UCLA Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program at the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, supported by Amazon, will provide students who are typically underrepresented in engineering and computer science an opportunity to conduct innovative and cutting-edge research.   Cornell will hold the SoNIC Summer Research Program in 2021, this year virtually. The annual event will be conducted over Zoom for four half-days from June 14th to June 17th.

  The SoNIC Summer Research Workshop is targeted to undergraduates and master's students. The theme of the workshop centers around cloud computing (systems and networking) and data analytics, but students with background in CS, IS, EE, Math, and Physics are eligible to apply. The SoNIC Summer Research Workshop, hosted by Cornell University and originally created in collaboration with Howard University, is aimed at significantly increasing the number of underrepresented minorities pursuing and obtaining a Ph.D. in computer science. It is designed to encourage undergraduate or master's students to pursue and achieve a Ph.D.

  UC Berkeley's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences is proud to offer our SUPERB-ITS: Summer Undergraduate Program in Engineering Research at Berkeley-Information Technology for Sustainability, pending renewal from the National Science Foundation.

  We are targeting high-potential rising juniors and seniors who have a strong interest in graduate study, and who are either socio-economically disadvantaged, low-income, first-generation college students, or have limited access to undergraduate research in their undergraduate institution. Over half of the EECS faculty have mentored SUPERB students during the past twenty summers and we are proud of the achievements of these students. One of them is now a faculty member here at UC Berkeley. A very high percentage of former SUPERB students have earned graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

  As a participant in this program, students will be eligible for a graduate school application fee waiver to our Berkeley graduate school programs.

  This REU Site is funded by The National Science Foundation (NSF), Division of Engineering Education and Centers, offering research opportunities in the security of crucial infrastructures to undergraduates with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD/ADD).  Studies suggest that students with ADHD are more creative and more willing to take risks. Those traits are exactly what the field of engineering needs. Therefore, these students may offer the potential to present revolutionizing solutions to complex problems dealing with cyber and physical security of critical infrastructure. 

  The program combines a ten-week traditional summer REU research experience with close mentorship, specially designed seminars, brainstorming sessions, and workshops designed to address the strengths and needs of participants.  Students will participate in their own original research projects in the morning and in the afternoon there will be laboratory rotations to provide a multidisciplinary research experience.  Participants will have the opportunity to present their creative ideas relating their experiences from different research areas.

  Eligibility

  - Students diagnosed with or showing signs of ADHD who are traditionally underrepresented and underserved in engineering programs
  - Must be US citizens or permanent residents enrolled as engineering majors
  - Must have completed their sophomore or junior year by June 1, 2017
  - Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 (out of 4.0)

  Applicants must provide a document from the doctor or complete a self-assessment for proof of eligibility upon acceptance. Project investigators will do diligence to protect the privacy of each participant.

  The registration website will be launched on the high security server of the UConn School of Engineering.  However, it should be noted that, if you are selected to participate in the program, lab directors and possible the graduate students who will be in the program will be aware of the eligibility requirement for this REU Site.   The Center for Translational Applications of Nanoscale Multiferroic Systems (TANMS) offers a 10-week, paid summer research experience for undergraduates at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), University of California, Berkeley (UCB), Cornell University, and the California State University at Northridge (CSUN).  TANMS works to engineer a revolution in miniature electromagnetic electronics through development of a new class of nanoscale multiferroic materials.  TANMS' research plan follows a top-down strategy where testbed systems level goals guide three engineering technology research thrusts motivating two fundamental research thrusts.  The research program relies on system level metrics defined by 3 testbed demonstration modules, i.e. a) memory, b) antenna, and c) motor. These three testbeds rely on similar multiferroic concepts while also representing electromagnetic devices that maximize this program's impact on our society.

  The TANMS REU stands out in the integration of entrepreneurial experience with scientific research.  Students currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in  engineering who are US citizens or permanent residents are eligible.
