  • Master of Science in Law (MSL) at Northwestern’s Pritzker School of Law

The Master of Science in Law (MSL) at Northwestern’s Pritzker School of Law is a unique program that provides individuals with STEM backgrounds with specialized training in the areas of intellectual property and patent design, business law and entrepreneurship, regulatory analysis and strategy, and skills development. Students can complete the full-time program in nine months, or the part time program (via either the residential or online format) in two to four years.

University of Illinois produces strong STEM graduates through its various schools and degree offerings, and we think the MSL program is a great graduate school option for UI students.  A representative will be attending the Graduate and Professional School Fair on Wednesday, October 16th representing the MSL.  Check out the flyer with our webinar dates (for interested students) along with a list of curricular offerings.

  • Apply to be a Library Ambassador by 9/16/19!

If you’re looking for a new way to make a positive impact on campus and to help other students be more informed and engaged with the UI Libraries, consider becoming a Library Student Ambassador!

The Library Student Ambassador program will give members the chance to learn more about the many collections, services, and programs at libraries throughout campus, to plan engaging events, and to help educate your peers about how to make the most of all that the libraries have to offer.  This is a great opportunity to gain valuable leadership, to share your perspectives about what students need and want from the libraries, and to make connections with other motivated students and library faculty and staff. The organizers of the group want the student members to have the freedom to determine what types of library-related events and projects will be most valuable to the campus community.

Applications to become a Library Student Ambassador are due by Monday, September 16th at https://publish.illinois.edu/libraryambassadors.  If you have any questions, please contact Visual Resources & Outreach Specialist Sarah Christensen at schrstn@illinois.edu.

  • Unit One presents Stateless Things Film screening on 10/23/17

Stateless Things, Film screening, reception, and discussion w/ director Kyungmook Kim is on Monday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Lounge of Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana.  Free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the garage across the street.

Kyungmook Kim is one of the most widely known and respected artists working in Korean LGBT and independent cinema today. In 2014 the Association of Korean Independent Film and Video named him the Filmmaker of the Year, and just a few months later, the Korean government imprisoned him for being a gay conscientious objector. Kim’s works interrogate the ways in which marginalized members of Korean society (ethnic and sexual minorities, political refugees) create spaces for themselves on the borders between visibility and invisibility, presence and absence.

This event is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by generous contributions from Unit One/Allen Hall; the Center for Advanced Study; the University Library; the Center for East Asian Languages and Cultures; the School of Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics; the Program in Comparative and World Literature; the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures; the Department of Media and Cinema Studies; and the University of Illinois LGBT Resource Center.
